Do come along to buy some fresh eggs and a stroll down the lane :o)

I forgot to get the eggs yesterday, so armed with my trusty camera I though you may like to join me.

Out through my nice new tall gate onto the pathway and into the lane and down to the dairy farm on the left

in through the gate and there you will find a table

with a box and a tin

Inside the box there is half a dozen free range eggs

if you need more, just ask at the farm :o)
There's two lovely blue hens eggs today - I think they're from Araucana hens(?) I've seen them call Easter Eggers too.
If you peek over the fence there are some free rangers there.

and of course there's the handsome rooster with his girls -
I often hear his crowing :o)

I'm pleased to say there were also some rescued ex-battery hens just behind.

I walk on a little further to visit some of the dairy herd

Billy bull is in with these girls too - he was certainly bellowing at me!

I was glad the metal fence was between us ;o)
On the other side of the lane were some more sweet girls,

and it looked to me like they needed milking.

As I turned I saw the 'finger post' at the junction had seen better days..

It certainly needs straightening and a coat of paint!

I strolled back home and decided to check the hog boxes to see how many had booked in last night, just one tucked up asleep - here's a peep,

snuggled up tightly fast asleep :o)

Hope you enjoyed walking with me.

Enjoy the weekend :o)

P.S.
Thank you dear Mary for the inspiration :o)

Thanks for taking me along on the lovely walk to gather eggs. Wish I could have a few hens, but I know the coyotes and racoons would not let me enjoy them.♥♫

Lovely walk Rose.
Our neighbour sells eggs too. There's something very special about walking down the road to get them, freshly laid.

What a cute egg stand -- love the variety of the eggs you received.

And thank you for the farm tour -- lots going on in such a lovely place. xo

hi Rose!
two of my hens lay blue eggs, just like your pic, and my hens are cream legbars. I only have to stroll down the garden for my eggs, often still warm, theres nothing like it, but a stroll to a nearby farm is probably second in satisfaction!

Hello Rose. I was thinking about you the other day. I have not been very good at blogging here lately as it was the end of the school semester. I have retired and now I am free to read and blog and chat. I love your photo story of going to get eggs. English farms are so charming. There are few small farms left here, so I really enjoyed your photos.

Hello Rose, it's so nice to meet you. Thank you for following and commenting at Shabby Tea Party. I love the Tiggywinkles photo in your sidebar. Soooo cute, we don't have them here in North America although I know some have the little hedgies as pets. Hugs,

Yes I enjoyed the walk. Have your ears been burning? My cousins leave for London in the am, going to the Chelsea Garden show! My one is so intrigued with your saving of the hedgehogs!
If I was going with them, I would make the bus stop along the way and say "I want to visit a "Rose" garden!
Beautiful countryside.

A lovely walk to get some fresh eggs. I wish all "shopping" was like this! I've stopped receiving your posts by email for some reason (a problem at my end), so I'm going to follow your blog another way.

What a lovely walk. We have an 'egg man' up the road. They always taste better and half the price of the supermarket eggs too :) M x
PS: I'm going to be linking to you again later ... unbeknown to you you saved my son's birthday!

Hi Rose - your post certainly was a breath of fresh air. I love to see honesty boxes for produce at the road side and can only hope that people are as honest as the vendors are generous and trusting. What a lovely way to do business eh?

I've just had a lovely time reading through the blog posts I've missed and catching up with your hoggy tales - I've been awol for a while so its great to catch up with you. xxx

Hi Rose,

It's Emily with the Eggs. Lovely to see what you've written and some good photos too. I do hope that the girls eggs are still very tasty, we just can't get enough of them. The cockerel's name is Geoff and he's one very lucky chappy.

I'll enjoy reading your blogs. See you soon
