I can hardly believe that it's October - where has the year gone? It reminds me of my Dad and his 'Lucky Leaf' thing...He used to tell us that if we could catch a falling leaf during the month of October we'd have good luck throughout the year (tuck it away somewhere safe though). Give it a try, and loose your inhibitions - it's a great laugh. Best on a calm, dry day though, it's actually more fun to do on a windy day - the children will love it. (My child is now 28 and I don't have Grandchildren, but you can bet I'll be trying to catch a leaf this month, despite people thinking I'm more than a little crazy!) Let me know if you catch one.....
At this point I was going to add photos of autumn leaves, but we've had torrential rain all day, now it's stopped it pitch black!
I know I've promised photos and collections - they'll be on my next post this weekend, still getting photos.
Big hello to two new followers :o) Great to see you.
Best wishes to all.

Auntie Rose, I've been out today trying to do just that, I'm not very good at it. I'll let you know if I get one.
See Yea George xxx
Rose, I had never heard that one before. I guess I need to try it. Have a great day.

I still have a number of days this month to go catch my leaves. We could all use some good luck!
Have a good week!

What a lovely tradition. With the wind we have out here on the plains of Colorado, I'd have to be very quick to catch one. My trees are either evergreen or have tiny leaves that blow away so I don't have much raking to do in the fall. ♥♫
What a fun way to welcome Fall. I love the idea of catching a leaf and I agree, it would be such fun with the kids on a windy day!

Tuesday and wednesday I have full days to myself as Daniel has 2 full days at school... regardless of weather with a flask of hot chocolate and perhaps some yummy flapjack I shall go out and about and attempt to catch a leaf... I could do with some good luck! lol

never heard of the catching leaf thing, but it sounds like great fun no matter! :)
your blog title reminds me of the song by barbara streisand....any connection?
I never heard about the falling leaves. Sounds like fun and I am all for good luck too. lol
Thanks so much for you visit and for looking my dish up in your book. I was pretty sure it was old. I thought it was so pretty. I have it sitting on my end table just looking lovely. Thanks again. Hugs, Marty
I'm going to try that!!
Thanks so much for visiting my blog. I'm sure you could make the Witchful Thinking pillow. I bought mine last Halloween. If I see another one,
I will send it to you.

I hadn't heard of catching the leaf before & would love to try! (I usually just pick them up off the ground :)) Thanks so much for dropping by (& your comment on the most delicious-sounding crisp sandwich!) - I love meeting new bloggers & glad it led me here...Happy Weekend!
That will be a good game for my grandkids if the weather stays nice. And thank you so much for following along about Satire. We feel truly blessed. I am English (maiden name is Wickersham). I always wanted to visit there. (Don't like to fly though!)
Hi Rose,
Just wanted to pop back in and see if you had a new post. I LOVED this one and the whole idea of catching a leaf...I left another comment a week or so ago. Anyway, I cannot tell you how much I'd love to visit your part of the world. I am a collector too, as you know, and I feel a connection to the Staffordshire area even though I've never been there ;-( Someday I so hope to be able to visit.
